For the past 15 years Canada Get Fit has been helping Canadians in Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and western GTA train and prepare for 10K races, half marathons, full marathons and cycling events in a friendly group atmosphere. It offers programs for the novice and those inspired to improve their overall performance.
For 2012 Canada Get Fit chose to support the IRONDames and their efforts to raise $200,000 to construct and equip a new Cancer Exercise Facility for Wellspring Halton-Peel as their charity of choice.
This past Sunday members of Canada Get Fit’s new 2012 Centurion Program took to the roads and raced Centurion Canada’s The Blue Mountains C50 and C100 cycling events. It was an incredible test of their training, and a fantastic day for all those that participated!
The IRONDames would like to congratulate all the Canada Get Fit cyclists who raced the C50 and C100! It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces at Centurion Canada this year!
We would also like to applaud the efforts of Canada Get Fit member Jim Clark who finished the C100 in a time of 7:18:20.3 and has raised over $1,900 to date in support of the IRONDames and Wellspring Halton-Peel’s new Cancer Exercise Facility! Your efforts to better the lives of others “inspire” us. You are one terrific IRONDude!
Shirley Speakman and Grace Armstrong, owners of Canada Get Fit are also extremely proud of James C100 finish.
“Jim did amazingly well. It was made even sweeter as Jim is a novice cyclist (his first year), he took the entire training program very seriously including the indoor cycling during the winter and because Jim’s wife, Sue, completed the half and was at the finish line to greet him. They are truly a power athletic couple!” ~ Shirley Speakman
