Hélène Desrosiers

Why I became An IRONDame

Joining the IRONDames gave me a new purpose to my training and why I compete, helping raising money for people living with cancer while doing what I’m passionate about is a great feeling.

How Long I’ve Been An IRONDame

I have been an IRONDame since 2010.

My Top Songs To Work Out With

I love to train with music but I change my playlist all the time.

Favourite Quote

“Life is not measured by the number of breath we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” ~Unknown

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” ~Winston Churchill

What Inspires/Motivates Me

Living a healthy lifestyle. Reaching to exceed the limits; physically and mentally. I’m inspired by athletes that have the desire to get better at what they do and have the determination and dedication to challenge themselves to exceed their own limits to achieve success.

Favourite Road Races

IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant 70.3 and the Boston Marathon.

My Secret Weapon/Ritual/Lucky Charm That I Use At Each Race

Visualization. I visualize the race in my mind and walk through it.

My Goal For The 2012/2013 Fundraising Challenge

I’ll compete at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona on October 11, 2012 in support to the Wellspring Halton-Peel’s Cancer Exercise Facility.

My Biggest Challenge

Overcoming the obstacles that challenges me towards my goal.

Most Valuable Training Tip

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” ~Michael Jordan

Dearest Helene: You are my hero and I bow down to you. Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You blew them away at Kona! You have become a truly Elite Athlete. Remember so many years ago when we got up at 4:30 a.m. to hit the pavement in Oakville? Lots and love, Pam.
