It’s certainly not a Mother’s Day Celebration without CHOCOLATE…and our signature Lace up for LOVE finishing medals are made of the best thanks to Manitoulin Chocolate Works!
The Making Of A Lace up for LOVE Medal
The star of our Lace up for LOVE Medals is of course the chocolate heart! This year our chocolate hearts were skillfully crafted by Manitoulin Chocolate Works, a family run business that opened it’s doors in 1998. Located in a historic building in Kagawong, Ontario on Manitoulin Island, Louise McKeen and her daughters Heather and Brenda have created an artisan chocolate manufacturing business that offers a combination of delicious handmade chocolates, and confections, fresh roasted coffee and a delicious variety of sweet and savoury gourmet items from around the country, and the world.
At Manitoulin Chocolate Works only the best Belgian Callebaut chocolate was used to craft our Lace up for LOVE hearts! Each milk chocolate heart was then wrapped in luxurious dark purple foil and placed into a cellophane bag.
The precious cargo was then hand delivered to us and the final stages of our Lace up for LOVE Medal Making began. 6 volunteers; 550 metres of matching purple ribbon; 550 Lace up for LOVE Stickers and 3 hours later our 2016 Medals were assembled and ready to go! And while the talks of an all out taste test were rampant… no medals went missing.
Needless to say we can’t wait for you to reach the Finish Line this Sunday…where it will be chocolate Medals for all! Now that’s one yummy Mother’s Day Tradition!
The IRONDames Committee would also like to thank Louise and Manitoulin Chocolate Works for their donation of a selection of their chocolates and confections to our Fundraising Prizes.
