This afternoon IRONDame Sonja Bedic and yoga instructor Angela Theuerle will be holding Vinyasa Yoga session in support of Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan Houses’ New Cancer Exercise Program. IRONDame Debbie Valickis will be competing on Sunday in the 6th edition of Subaru Ironman 70.3 Muskoka. The 1.2-mile, one-loop swim will take place in picturesque Peninsula Lake. The 56-mile bike course circles Lake of Bays, riding through small towns such as Dwight, Dorset, and Baysville. The 13.1-mile run will take Debbie through Muskoka County, past pink granite rock and cascading waterfalls.
The event this year boasts 100 qualifying slots to the 2014 IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 in Mont-Tremblant, Québec, Canada. This will be the 2nd year in a row that Debbie has competed in the challenging 70.3 Muskoka Ironman event. IRONDames Marla Ashmore, Andrea Buzza, Maris Lush, Val Lush, Kim Schizas, Pat Shaw and Shirley Speakman are set to cycle with a fantastic group of IRONDudes and friends the Aspire 80K Route in tomorrow’s inaugural PwC Epic Tour Halton. With over 3,000 participants expected its sure to be a day to remember with dedicated lanes, world class event organization, mechanical support, rests stops and nutrition stations all along the route and an epic Finish Line Festival and Exposition featuring live music, food, wine, beer and special activities designed for the whole family to enjoy.
