Vinyasa Flow Yoga Session A Hit For Wellspring’s New Cancer Exercise Facility

IRONDame Sonja Bedic and yoga instructor Angela Theuerle of Elements Niagara hosted a wonderful Vinyasa Flow yoga session this past Saturday in support of Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House’s New Cancer Exercise Facility. Due to rainy weather the roof top yoga session was moved indoors to Strata’s beautiful yoga studio located on the building’s 21st floor. The hour yoga session led by Angela was well attended, with participants making donations to IRONDame Sonja’s personal fundraising page.

The 21st floor venue was beautiful with it’s breathtaking view of the Burlington skyline. Instructor Angela was terrific; encouraging participants along by offering up variations of poses for yoga newbies and veterans alike. She created a relaxed atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable to push themselves in their practice as well as laugh at themselves as their legs wobbled and shook while they attempted to take the next pose!

“ Who knew I would be so happy to do a plank! ” ~ exclaimed IRONDame Andrea Buzza

“ Okay…. Now don’t let me go!” ~ said IRONDame Marla Ashmore to Angela as she supported her in a balancing pose!

Before everyone knew it the hour was over and the group was treated to delicious chocolate protein smoothies, fresh fruit and decadent black bean brownies for which by popular demand you can find the recipe below!

Rachel’s Secret Brownies:

Ingredients:

15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed
3 large eggs
1/3 cup melted coconut oil or organic canola oil
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup natural sweetener such as coconut sugar
½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F (175 C).

Lightly oil an 8-inch baking pan. In a food processor, place the beans, eggs, oil, cocoa powder, vanilla and sugar; process until smooth. Remove the blade and gently mix in chocolate chips.

Spread in prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until centre is set. Cool, cut into squares, and enjoy!

For friends and IRONDames alike the event was a wonderful opportunity to explore our Zen, catch up with friends, make new ones and support a great cause! Thanks again Sonja and Angela.

  1. Thankfulness to my father who told me about this webpage, this
    blog is in fact remarkable.

  2. Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with?

I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future
but I’m having a tough time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then
most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
