Why I Became an IRONDame

I became an IRONDame because (their) main goal is to fund raise for the cancer exercise program at Wellspring Halton-Peel. This exercise program was a lifeline to me during my cancer surgery and treatments. The physiotherapists provided expertise and support during my recovery. Exercise was really important in helping me to cope with my treatments and now to prevent recurrence. Wellspring is a place where cancer patients can go and participate in an individualized exercise program created by professional physiotherapists and kinesiologists. It is a fantastic resource.

How Long I’ve Been an IRONDame

I am a new member of the IRONDames and I am delighted to be a part of such a great group of women dedicated to sport and fitness.

I was inspired by the story of Kim Kearns-Pace and how she was able to complete an Ironman.

Favourite Road Race

So far my favorite road race has been the Half IronMan 70.3 Muskoka 2013.  It was the first half IronMan that I had ever done.

Secret Weapon in Every Race

I like to go over the route physically or mentally before the race.

My Goal for the 2012/2013 Fundraising Challenge

To raise $1000 or more for the Wellspring Exercise Program.

My Biggest Challenge

My biggest challenge to date was the Half IRONMAN Muskoka that I participated September 2012.  My fitness level hadn’t completely rebounded yet from the treatments but I finished and was pretty happy about that.  Thank you to all who sponsored Wellspring through this event.  My most recent challenge has been training for my first full marathon which is coming up May 5, the Mississauga Marathon 2013.

Most Valuable Training Tip

Good sleeps of 7-8 hrs to rest your body and recover.
