To those in the Greater Toronto Area, Muskoka is a local treasure full of natural beauty, peace and great adventure. Although it’s right in our backyard, Muskoka feels worlds away. No wonder National Geographic chose it as one of the Best Trips in 2012. We love this wild Northern gem and what better way to see and celebrate it than by swimming through its waters, cycling its roads and running through its pink granite rock and cascading waterfalls. IRONDames Debbie Valickis and Claudia Hutchinson will be doing just that on September 9, 2012. Debbie will be competing in her first ever IRONMAN 70.3 Muskoka and Claudia, who claims the 70.3 one of her favourite races, will be participating in the 5150 Triathlon this year.
Here’s what athletes can expect on the 70.3 route:
Swim will take place in the beautiful Peninsula Lake. Swimmers will complete one loop, exiting the course on the 18th green of the Lakeside Golf Course. The one loop course circles Lake of Bays and passes through the entire District of Muskoka, including Dwight, Dorset and Baysville. The run starts at Deerhurst, hugs beautiful Fairy Lake and takes athletes through Muskoka County to the turnaround point on Williamsport Rd. where athletes enter the final stretch back to Deerhurst Resort.
