Mary Anne Innes is a teacher and an IRONDame! Together with three other teacher coaches and students from Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School in Oakville, she will be participating in the Girls on the Run 5K Race at Downsview Park in Toronto on Sunday, June 17th, 2012.
The Mother Teresa Team, made up of 13 students from grades 4 and 5, has been meeting twice a week for the past 11 weeks after school to train and acquire valuable life skills, like co-operation, healthy decisions, standing up to peer pressure and more!
Mary Anne was thrilled to help make this program available to her students as she believes in empowering girls to be healthy and self confident. We’re in love with the group’s motto: Changing the world one girl at a time.
Recently the Mother Teresa Girls on the Run Team held a race simulation with the support of their families. With each 1k lap the girls finished, they tie-dyed the GOTR t-shirts with different colours of fabric spray-on paint to make personalized team shirts for race day!
